What You Need To Know About Alabama Personal Injury Law

Alabama personal injury law is unique, complex and challenging. It dictates whether or not a claim can be filed, and it will influence the outcome of the case.

There are two state-specific laws that are particularly important in personal injury cases. First Alabama follows what is known as the pure contributory negligence doctrine. This doctrine bars recovery in the event of any plaintiff contributory negligence. In other words, if there was shared fault and the victim was partially responsible for the injury in any way, the victim may not be able to recover compensation for his or her injuries.

The second law that needs to be recognized is Section 6-2-38 of the Alabama Code, which states that the statute of limitations for filing claims is two years, with some exceptions. You must contact an attorney to begin the claim process as soon as possible.
